PHOENIX - The Arizona Rattlers fell short in their home opener against the Tucson Sugar Skulls and are now 1-2 on the season.
This is the second straight loss for the Rattlers; they haven't had back-to-back losses since 2018. After tonight's loss, the Rattlers are 15-2 in their last 17 regular season games.
Their last loss at home eliminated them from the 2022 IFL Western Conference Championship. This is the second loss the Rattlers have received from the Sugar Skulls as the cross-town rivals' record against each other is now 8-2.
The Rattlers had a total of 279 yards in their 53 offensive plays during the game. Rattlers' rushing leaders were Jager Gardner who averaged 2.8 yds a run with a total of 19 yards and one touchdown. As well as
Jamal Miles with a gain of 16 yards with an average of 5.3 yards a carry.
In QB Jorge Reyna first start with the Rattlers he had 6 touchdowns and 242 yards, in the 54-48 loss. Isiah Scott was the leading touchdown scorer of the night with 4 touchdowns and 174 yards.
Jamal Miles and
Braxton Haley each also contributed a touchdown.
Dillion Winfrey had a combined return total of 173 yards both MFG and Kick returns. In this game, the Rattlers were 5 of 11 in Third-Down Conversions and 3 of 5 in Fourth-Down Conversions.
The Rattlers finish this homestand with a game next week on Saturday, April 15th as they take on the Duke City Gladiators for a 6:05 pm (local AZ time) start at the Footprint Center.
