The Arizona Rattlers fell short on the road on Sunday evening.

PHOENIX - The Arizona Rattlers fell short in the final moments on the road in San Jose on Sunday evening by a score of 47-46.

Arizona pulled within a point after back-to-back MVP Drew Powell scrambled for a 17-yard score with just 23 seconds left in regulation. The Rattlers then tried for a two-point conversion but Powell was hit as he was aiming for Jager Gardner and the game was over. Arizona falls to 1-1 on the season after opening with a pair of road games against two of the top 5 teams in the preseason coaches poll.

The Rattlers had scored on six straight possessions until Panthers' LB Darinn Hungerford intercepted a Powell pass in the fourth that was intended for Jamal Miles and deflected. The Rattlers' first turnover of the season set up what would eventually be the Panthers' go-ahead score to take the lead for good.
