James Nyamwaya returns for his 2nd season with the Arizona Rattlers and the IFL in 2025.
Nyamwaya joined the Arizona Rattlers late in the 2024 season, making an immediate impact on the field. He appeared in six games, recording six solo tackles and two assisted tackles. Before signing with the Rattlers, he was a member of the Massachusetts Pirates.
Nyamwaya played his final collegiate season at Merrimack College, where he tallied 27 tackles (20 solo), 6.5 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. He also recorded one quarterback hurry, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. His standout performance came against Long Island University, where he registered five tackles and three sacks. His dominance on the field earned him All-Northeast Conference Second Team honors in 2022, finishing tied for fourth in the conference in sacks.
Before transferring to Merrimack, Nyamwaya spent three seasons at Curry College, competing in 26 games and amassing 136 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. Despite the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he made a significant impact, earning All-Commonwealth Coast Conference First Team honors as a freshman in 2021.
James is originally from Andover, Massachusetts, and attended Bridgton Academy.
