Biography

Briason Mays joins the Arizona Rattlers for his first season in the IFL in 2025.

Mays began his collegiate football career at West Virginia University, where he redshirted as a freshman in 2018. In 2019, he emerged as a key contributor, starting seven games at center and logging over 490 offensive snaps. His academic commitment earned him a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team. Mays continued to rotate between positions in 2020, making 23 total appearances and starting games at both center and right tackle.

He transferred to Southern Miss ahead of the 2021 season, where he played in 11 games and made six starts, including appearances at left tackle and center.

Mays' foundation for success was laid at Bolivar Central High School in Tennessee, where he was a four-year starter and a three-time All-Region 7-3A First Team honoree. He also earned all-district honors twice and played in the Toyota East/West All-Star Game. A dominant presence on both sides of the ball, he finished his senior season with 101 pancake blocks, 47 tackles on defense, and a 94% grading on the offensive line. His performance helped his team reach the state playoffs, and he garnered national attention with three-star ratings from ESPN, Rivals, and 247Sports.
