Biography

Lacayo enters his second season with the Arizona Rattlers, his sixth in the IFL and 11th in professional football in 2022. In 2021, Lacayo was 6-11 on field goal attempts – a mark that ranked second in the IFL. He was also 84-93 (90.3%) on extra-point attempts, with his 84 makes being the most in the league by a margin of 26.

Lacayo has played in the AFL, the CIF and most recently, the XFL. Lacayo began 2020 with the XFL’s Seattle Dragons, before the season was cut short due to COVID-19.

In five games with Seattle, Lacayo totaled seven touchbacks and converted three field goals, including a season-long 47-yarder. Lacayo spent the 2019 IFL season with San Diego, earning Second Team All-IFL honors. During the 2019 season he converted a total of 10 field goals, including a long of 53 yards, while leading the IFL in PAT% (94), and scoring over 12 points in two different games. In the past, Lacayo has earned NFL tryouts with the San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bears. Across Lacayo’s career in professional football, he has played against the Rattlers more times than any other professional team.

The Hayward, California native began his college career at the College of San Mateo and was a two-year captain before earning a scholarship to play at Hastings College in Nebraska. In both 2009 and 2010, Lacayo was named All Nebraska Kicker and Special Teams Player of the Year by the Omaha World-Herald. He holds multiple Hastings school kicking records, including season field goals (first, 14/17), career field goals (second, 25/30), season and career PAT (39/39 and 64/64), and the most kicking points scored (81).
