GLENDALE, AZ - The Arizona Rattlers will look to defend their home field in a gridiron showdown with the Vegas Night Hawks on Sunday afternoon at Desert Diamond Arena with kickoff slated for 3:05 PM MST.
Starting On the Right Foot
To put it lightly, the Rattler's confidence is through the roof. After overwhelming the Northern Arizona Wranglers 51-40 to put a victory in the win column for the first time this season, there is a sense of swagger that is circulating inside this locker room. Despite trailing early, the Rattlers punched the Wranglers in the mouth with 28 second-quarter points and spent no time trailing the rest of the way.
Surprisingly, very few performers on the roster showed any rust whatsoever. Many appeared to be in mid-season form including RB Shannon Brooks. Now in his third year, and second with the Rattlers, Brooks recorded 60 rushing yards and found the end zone three times. QB Dalton Sneed also played mistake-free football and tallied 114 yards through the air along with a pair of passing touchdowns just before the break.
Another standout name came in the form of defensive back Jarmaine Doubs Jr. who recorded seven tackles on the day including a forced fumble.
A Fierce Rivalry
Dating back to the 2022 season, the Rattlers and Night Hawks have been involved in a total of four matchups with Arizona and have ended up triumphant in three of those contests. Last year, it was the Rattlers who were no strangers in putting points up on the scoreboard in a 63-39 win.
Breaking New Ground
After calling the Footprint Center home for more than three decades, the Rattlers will have a change of scenery with the move to Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale for the 2024 season. With Rattlers fans barely able to keep their excitement to a minimum, expect the new home of Arizona's premier Indoor Football League team to be packed with black, copper, teal, and white. Constructed back in 2003 and able to hold more than 20,000 seats, don't be shocked if the "Snake Pit" inside the confines of Desert Diamond Arena is rattling for the home opener.
