Box Score PHOENIX - The Arizona Rattlers traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to take on the Oilers for the first time in franchise history.
In a tightly contested game that came down to the final moments, the Rattlers came away with a 53-46 victory.
FIRST HALF
The Rattlers started the game strong with a 23-yard passing touchdown to Isaiah Huston for the quick 7-0 lead.
The Oilers were able to strike next but a missed extra point helped the Rattlers maintain a one-point lead.
After this, the Rattlers expanded their lead with a touchdown from Jazeric Peterson, Craig Peterson deuce, and another Isaiah Huston touchdown to give the Rattlers a 23-6 lead.
The Oilers were not going to go into halftime without a fight, scoring two touchdowns in a row to cut into the Rattlers' lead.
However, thanks to a Jamal Miles touchdown and a Dillion Winfrey interception, the Rattlers entered halftime with a 30-20 lead.
SECOND HALF
The Oilers came into the second half looking to break into the Rattlers' lead. This was successful, coming away with two straight scoring possessions to tie the game at 30.
With pressure on the Rattlers to get their second-half scoring started, Morian Walker Jr was able to find the end zone on a six-yard run to give the Rattlers their lead back, 36-30.
This lead would not last for long however, as the Oilers were able to score on the last possession of the quarter giving them a one-point lead heading into the fourth quarter and their first lead of the game. A tightly contested fourth quarter began with another Walker Jr touchdown for Arizona giving them a six-point lead.
The Oilers were next to score cutting the lead to only three but a Craig Peterson field goal made it a 46-40 ball game.
At the end, Tulsa was not going to go away without a fight. A touchdown with almost two minutes to go tied the game. The following possession for the Rattlers came away empty after a missed field goal and the Oilers had possession with a chance to win 51 seconds to go.
Fortunately for the Rattlers, Seyvon Lowry came up big with the game-winning pick-six. The game ended with a score of 53-46.
DEFENSE WINS GAME
Seyvon Lowry's game winning interception was not only his first touchdown of the season, but the first pick six for the Rattlers this season. This was also the first Multi-interception game for Arizona this season.
REYNA-HUSTON CONNECTION
Jorge Reyna and
Isaiah Huston have been a dynamic duo. In this game, Reyna came away with 253 passing yards with 125 of those yards going to
Isaiah Huston. Huston also had two of Reyna's four passing touchdowns.
