GREEN BAY, WI – The six-time champion Arizona Rattlers will take the road in Week 4 as they face the Green Bay Blizzard on Friday, June 4 at 5:05 p.m. MT. Arizona is undefeated against Green Bay in all-time matchups, having gone 6-0 and posting a dominant 30-point win when the teams last faced each other in 2019.
Running Wild
The Rattlers leaned on the ground game in their last matchup against the Sioux Falls Storm. Arizona is currently the top-ranked rushing offense in the IFL behind the efforts of Drew Powell, Nick LaSane and Darrell Monroe, who got the start in Arizona's second game. Monroe currently leads the IFL in rushing yards per game with LaSane and Powell ranking fourth and fifth, respectively. The Rattlers rushed for 173 yards and four touchdowns against the Storm in their most recent game.Â
Through the air, quarterback Drew Powell stepped up in the Rattlers' second game of the season, throwing for 193 yards and scoring four total touchdowns; two passing and two rushing. Wide receiver Jarrod Harrington also supplied a breakout performance, making nine catches for 112 yards and two receiving touchdowns. He Is currently fourth in the league in receiving yards per game.Â
Punishing Defense
Arizona's defense halted the ground game of Sioux Falls, allowing no rusher over 40 yards in its most recent game. Through two games plae\yed, the Rattlers are currently third in the league in average points allowed. A large part of that effort belonged to linebacker Treyvon Williams, who accounted for four tackles, a sack and a tackle-for-loss in his most recent game.Â
After picking up an interception in his first game, defensive back Dillion Winfrey racked up eight total tackles and a pass breakup in his second game of the season. Defensive back Devin Cockrell also put up eight total tackles against the Storm and leads the team in total tackles through two games.
Battling the Blizzard
The Green Bay Blizzard host the Rattlers after a victory over the Tucson Sugar Skulls in their most recent game. Quarterback Damion May only threw for 95 yards on the day, but tacked on four passing touchdowns in a 42-36 win. The Blizzards' main source of yardage came from special teams with returner Trevon Saunders totaling 135 return yards. Green Bay's special teams unit leads the league in average yards per return and kickoff return touchdowns. The Blizzard has returned two kickoffs for touchdowns on the season, while defensively it leads the league with seven interceptions on the season and ranks third in total sacks. Both the Rattlers and the Blizzard are coming off of a bye week in Week 3.
The Arizona Rattlers and Green Bay Blizzard will kick off at 5:05 p.m. MT at Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin as Arizona rounds out a three-game road trip to start its season.
