COLLEGE
Matt attended the University of Southern California from 2003-2007. As a senior in 2007, Spanos, who played every position on the offensive line in his career, started the last 9 games at center after sitting out the 2006 season. Overall in 2007, he appeared in USC's final 10 contests after missing the first 3 games while recuperating from a torn right tricep that he suffered in 2007 fall camp. He recovered a fumble against Arizona. He was a 2007 All-Pac-10 honorable mention pick as well as the USC's Courage Award and Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year Award winner. Spanos sat out his 2006 junior season while academically ineligible. He was switched to offensive guard from center prior to 2006 spring practice and performed well enough to compete for the starting job on the left side (he also can play tackle). Spanos, who was moved to center from offensive tackle in 2005 spring practice, saw brief action in all 13 games as a backup and on special teams as a sophomore in 2005. Spanos was a reserve offensive tackle and played on special teams as a redshirt freshman in 2004. He appeared in 9 games in 2004. He sprained his left arch prior to the Colorado State game and missed the next 4 contests (Colorado State, BYU, Stanford and California). Spanos redshirted as a freshman offensive guard in 2003, his first year at USC.
