Arizona Rattlers vs Spokane Shock (Quarter Finals – July 29, 2011)
ON THE WIN . . . . . . “We had a formula against these guys and we played more physical than they did. Had a great game plan and developed a feel offensively as the game progressed.”
ON THE OFFENSE . . . . . . “We had the ball just one time in the first quarter. Not many teams can excel with that statistic, but we pushed through.”
ON THE DEFENSE . . . . . . . “You can’t win a championship without playing good defense. We came out on D and played hard tonight, forced five turnovers. When I first got here, the teams were always historically offensively talented. You have to put together a good defense to excel.”
ON THE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH UP . . . . . . “We get a shot at Chicago. We were up by nine points with 50 seconds to go during our regular season game with them and let them take that game. It’s a time for revenge in the Conference Championship game.”
Arizona Rattlers vs Pittsburgh Power (July 10, 2011)
ON LOCKING UP HOME-FIELD NATIONAL CONFERENCE PLAYOFF ADVANTAGE . . . . . . “We were able to lock up home filed advantage through the playoffs. I am happy for our fans that we will be able to keep things in the desert.”
ON THE GAME . . . . . . “I’m proud of the team. Offensively, we scored on every opportunity that we had. Defensively we made some big stops and had some key turnovers. We didn’t play well the last time we were on the East Coast. We wanted to come out and execute – and we did.”
ON WR CHRIS JACKSON . . . . . “I thought for his first game, he did an excellent job. He looked like he never left the game. We will get a couple of things ironed out. I was very happy with the receiving corps. They did a great job tonight.”
ON THE UPCOMING BYE-WEEK . . . . . . . “We are going to take some much needed rest here with the upcoming bye-week. We are going to rest up and get back next week to be ready for Dallas. We need to keep our momentum going into the playoffs.”
THOSE THAT STEPPED UP . . . . . . . “WR Kerry Reed scored four touchdowns and had a break out game. We were able to get QB Trevor Harris some reps and OL Trask Iosefa did a great job on the offensive-line. Our pass rush was great, We had three sacks. If you can control the line of scrimmage, you have a chance to win the game.”
Arizona Rattlers vs Spokane Shock (July 2, 2011)
ON THE WIN . . . . . . “The guys really wanted this one. We were 0-4 against Spokane coming into this game. The guys came out, executed and played very well. We scored every time we had the ball.”
ON THE DEFENSE . . . . . . . “Defensively, we pressed them up and challenged them. It was a great team effort.”
ON THE OFFENSE . . . . . . . “The offense really excelled. [Nick] Davila had a heck of a night, only six incompletions. He spread the ball around to everybody. Our receivers really came ready to play.”
ON MARQUIS FLOYD . . . . . “I have been coaching Marquis since he came out of college. He is a ball hawk and had a great game tonight with two interceptions.”
Arizona Rattlers vs San Jose Sabercats (June 18, 2011)
ON THE WIN . . . . . “We had a phenomenal fourth quarter. We were down seven, but huddled up and made a decision to either be Division Champs or go home. We settled down and played Rattler football.”
ON THE PLAY OF WR JASON GEATHERS . . . . . “Geathers had an outstanding game against his old team. He stepped up big on the defensive side of the ball and had some big scores for us.”
ON THE DEFENSE . . . . . “The D-Line put pressure on QB Mark Grieb all night. They really put in a 60-minute game.”
ON THE PLAY OF THE OFFENSE . . . . . “Davila performed very well and the offensive line did not give up a sack all night.”
Arizona Rattlers vs Iowa Barnstormers (June 11, 2011)
ON THE OFFENSE . . . . “We thought we’d be able to score some points. We knew they would play a lot of zone and we were able to capitalize on it.”
ON THE DEFENSE . . . . . “The guys are playing outstanding on the defensive side of the ball. If they continue to play strong, we will continue to win games.”
ON ODIE BREAKING THE SINGLE SEASON RUSHING RECORD . . . . . “Odie did an outstanding job tonight. He’s had a great year so far and runs hard. The offensive line has done an excellent job opening things up for Odie.”
ON THE EMERGENCE OF THE RECEIVING CORPS . . . . . . “Kerry Reed and Glen Fox had great nights tonight. It was good to get them in there to get their feet wet.”
Arizona Rattlers vs Utah Blaze (June 4, 2011)
ON THE GAME . . . . . . I thought we played pretty solid in all fazes of the game. We had three touchdowns on special teams. We pressured the quarterback pretty good and our defensive backs made some plays and we were able to make some stops. We played some of our best defense since the Tulsa game. Offensively, they only stopped us once in the first half and we were able to get some substitutions in there in the second half to get some reps.
ON THE RUN GAME . . . . . . We were trying to run the ball a bit to keep the ball game moving. Odie [Armstrong] had a good ball game and there was a great effort on his part.
ENTIRE TEAM EFFORT . . . . . We were able to get Trevor [Harris] some reps at quarterback, we got Trask [Iosefa] in there on the offensive line and Riley [Swanson] was able to get in the game at receiver. We were definitely able to get some guys experience.
ON THE DEFENSE . . . . . . The defense came in motivated after playing Utah last time. They wanted to prove themselves tonight and I think they did.
Arizona Rattlers vs Cleveland Gladiators (May 28, 2011)
On the defense…. It’s a 60-minute game and our defense stepped up when they needed to and got some turnovers for us
On the offense…. I thought offensively that we were pretty efficient. In that one minute situation right before half time we missed a field goal and then we came out the second half and threw a pick, but other than that they didn’t stop us all night.
On strategy….. We wanted to get Jason Geathers in the middle of the field and just use our size and our power. He did a good job for us.
On the opponent….. I think we scored the most points that Cleveland has given up all year. They had the number one scoring offense going into the game. At the end of the day, we scored when we needed to. We scored 63 points and that’s the most they have given up all year, so our guys did a pretty good job. There were just some things we need to get cleaned up there.
